Safe, noninvasive, virtually painless, and permanent, laser hair removal is a cutting-edge technology that works by sending short-pulses of laser energy through your skin and directly into active-growth hair follicles. Once there, the laser energy is absorbed by the pigments in the follicle, rendering it inactive so it can no longer produce hair.
The team at The Spa in Saxonburg uses the ClearScan YAG™ laser, which can perform effective hair removal on all skin types.
While most people choose to undergo laser hair removal treatments because they want to stop wasting time shaving, waxing, tweezing, and plucking, the procedure has other benefits, too. After treatment, you may notice smoother, silkier skin and a more uniform complexion.
Laser hair removal can be used on virtually any part of your body, and it’s just as effective for small areas as it is for larger areas. Most patients use the technology to get rid of hair from the upper lip, chin, face, neck, bikini area, legs, chest, back, and shoulders.
Laser hair removal is a quick and relatively painless procedure that may feel like a tiny rubber band snapping against your skin. The ClearScan YAG uses a cooling system to remove heat as it leaves the follicles, which helps ensure a comfortable treatment from start to finish.
Before getting started, the treatment area is cleansed and you’ll be given eye shields to protect your retinas and corneas from the laser. During the procedure, your skin is gently held taut as the computer-guided laser is passed over the entire treatment area, spot-by-spot, delivering quick pulses of light into active hair follicles.
The entire procedure can last anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Because ClearScan YAG laser technology features a high repetition rate and a wide scan area, it can cover large treatment areas four times faster than other types of lasers.
While you can expect to see a 10-25% reduction in hair after your first laser treatment, you’ll need to undergo multiple treatments to achieve optimal results. That’s because the laser only targets active-growth hair follicles. Hair grows in three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Of these, the anagen phase is the only active-growth phase. Most patients require five to eight laser hair removal treatments, each spaced four to six weeks apart, to achieve permanent hair removal.
